1910  Suffragettes attack House of Commons in London resulting in 119 arrests.

1940  Winston Churchill confirms lend-lease deal with US.

1977  President Anwar Sadat becomes first Egyptian leader to visit Israel.

1991  Briton Terry Waite and American Thomas Sutherland are released by the Islamic Jihad for the Liberation of Palestine.  Waite had been kidnapped on 21 January 1987 while Sutherland had been in captivity since 9 June 1985.
