“Goodbye” Carole Lombard – Died 16 January 1942
Carole Lombard (October 6, 1908 – January 16, 1942) was an American actress who is particularly noted for her roles in comedies of the 1930’s. She was the highest-paid star in Hollywood in the late 1930’s, earning around US$500,000 per year (more than five times the salary of the US President). Lombard died at the age of 33 in a plane crash while returning from a World War II Bond tour.
